Beautiful Iran

Tehran - Qom - Kashan - Esfahan - Tehran

A journey that took us over 600km in 5 days. We journeyed from busy Tehran (the Kuala Lumpur to Malaysia, really), to the quainter, quieter and more artistic Esfahan. The journey via mini bus, consisted of 11 rowdy Malaysian tourists, 2 Iranian guides and a driver named Reza.

The place is a photographers' dream! This time round, I decided not to lug my camera along and to just Instagram everything. Seeing as how each of my siblings plus my dad will be doing most of the picture taking, I thought it was the more convenient thing to do. I did not snap that many pictures, but the ones I did sure made me happy. It was a truly enlightening trip.

Anyways, here are some of my favourite shots throughout.

So here's a little story about our driver, Reza.

He speaks only one language, Farsi. One morning during breakfast, he sat opposite me and basically just smiled all by himself the whole time we were sitting there. Amidst conversation with the people next to him, he suddenly blurted "Macaroni!" and smiled. A few seconds later, "Spaghetti!"

For a while, the conversation centered around him and his craving for Italian food. The whole time, he smiled and looked at all of us as if he understood the conversation. It was only later on that I found out that he did not even know what 'macaroni' and 'spaghetti' meant. It was the only english words he knew and he said them to joined in our conversation. I guess he must've felt abit left out :(

My heart goes out to him. Bless him for trying so hard.

I love the people there. They're all so friendly, and seem to be smiling all the time. Especially the old men who drink Chai and shisha in the afternoon. Such interesting things, such interesting people.

Would love to travel more soon.

I drew this before I left for Iran a week ago.

I am back. So now I'm busy handling all the week worth of assignments on a very jet-lagged Sunday. Do wish me luck, won't you? I shall write more on my trip to the land of persia when the assignments don't look too intimidating.

Oh and look at what I found a few weeks ago! I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but the first person to ever call me Kelly was darling Medina. Before that, it was Alice and later on it became Kels, Kell, ShortiesWorldDotCom (courtesy of Jason) etc etc. I like to think of it as a mini evolution, keeping in sync with my phases in life. But of course, nothing stays closer to the heart than the original Khalis hehe ;)

Hello Kelly,

just writing to let you know that i'm still alive! things have been pretty hectic in college. assignments are, as always, never ending. i cannot believe its already november... one more month and its december and a whole year is gone just like that! oh, time is seriously passing me by.

october was a mixture of events and boredom. i spend a lot of time in sunway in a lab on a chair in front of a computer all day. how sad. but it is becoming a routine. so it's okay.
i am slowwwwwly starting to get into my assignment groove. this is good, but i still need to pick up some slack here and there. other than that, october was surprisingly filled with reunions. i got to see a lot of faces i haven't seen in a while, it made me feel a bit nostalgic now that i think about it.

okay so last week my photography class made the compulsory day trip to Malacca, which was nice. i haven't played tourist in a while, so it was fun getting slightly crazy in the heat. most pictures are already on facebook so i wont post any here hohoho.

about time i upload an artwork, albeit a quick one.

taking a break from drawing joints and constructing a spaceship. this one right here is about 30 minutes pencil and pen, plus 10 mins tweaking in photoshop.

i just love drawing hot chicks in my not-so-spare time.

i found out the hard way that my calligraphy pen is, in fact, non waterproof. her shirt started to smudge after going over it a few times with some toner markers LIKE WHAT THE HELL. i also used whiteout for the bg details. i like using whiteout. whiteout is my friend. whiteout is so fun :B

my sister bought the latest James Morrison album today, it's rekindling the love i had for him back in Undiscovered. had quite interesting meals today, middle eastern style lamb, and Dutch pancake with the mother and the sister. i also bought a new laura ashley jumpsuit! so pretty, but i must say i feel pretty guilty about buying it. hmm, other than being called a bad driver 3 hours ago, that was pretty much my day.

recently my 2D animation class finished our mini line animation project. we decided to do a dark version of snow white. there's the queen, the 7 dwarves (see if u can see who is who!) and snow white herself. check out my portion:

second week into college

Dear kelly
how are you? oh I've missed you so. so many things have happened since i last wrote to you. ramadhan is over, eid was fantastic, i gained weight, bought a new car, and i'm already in my second week of college! how time flies, yes yes? Raya's always been a big thing for family. some shots :

semester four is starting off nicely. we all have awesome lecturers and the subjects are very interesting so far. i'm really excited about the core stuff we'll be learning, which are 2D Animation, Introduction to Digital Photography, 3D Maya Essentials and Drawing for Animation. now, it's only been the second week, but boy are we busy. i admit, i'm still in that post-holiday mood (the compulsion to totally dive into assignments haven't really caught up to me yet). I'm still slacking and killing time doing god knows what on the internet.

i recently bought some Prismacolor pens for DFA. it's my first time really buying a set like this, i've only bought one or two Copics before. theyre awesome and i cant wait to start using them like julian did. i also compiled a bunch of my pens (finally-theyre always all over the place) and... surprisingly i have alot more than i expected! maybe i'm not that thrifty after all... (esp with art materials)

i've also come to the stage where i start labelling my pencil boxes. different classes require different tools and its always frustrating when you forget a pencil or a putty eraser just because they're in another pencil box. c'est la vie, such is life of an animation student.

abyways, we all started assignmenting with Maya. still a newbie, but i'm really excited to learn more.

and for drawing for animation, we got flipbook assignments. last sem, it took me a whole month of procrastinaton + research and 2 full days to make a lightbox and actually drawing the stuff. below: homemade lighbox lulz. made of : a box, plexiglass, layout paper, putty eraser and your standard issue ikea lighbulb. it's actually very functional in a sense that it's portable and can be used anywhere with a power source. conclusion, khalis is a genius.

on top of the marker renderings, primitive drawings, photography research, line animation, it's 2 flipbooks per week. i only remembered to record one of them.

wawawa aint life swell. k, you've seen the pictures. i'm off to continue with my life.

Oh and today we test drove the new carrrrr! special thanks goes out to my awesome uncle. i can't wait to spend some quality sexy times with Oliver. He's a bit jumpy, but that's nothing a few good hours on the road won't cure... and needless to say Raya's almost here!

i just realized that raya's around the corner. how assitinnn! this year, we'll be celebrating it in Kedah. but before that, of course, we'll give good ol Kelantan a nice visit :)

since the holidays started mid july (i honestly don't even remember the date lawl), i've been pretty much a lazy arse hehehoho. byebye assignment rush and helllooo too-much-time-i-dont-even-know-what-to-do-anymore. still, i did keep myself busy with some nice things... i'll spare you all the mundane details. here are some highlights of July/August.

Urbanscapes with my marzipan. we hardly see each other now that we're all big and grown up :')

Kedah. it was a nice trip/escapade, seeing the gramps. here are totally unrelated pictures of me on a swing enjoying myself like never before. lalalaa.

read some books...

Joined a sculpting class. i've always liked the whole idea of sculpting, but it wasn't until recently that i ventured into it. it's awesome. my mum (who's into jewellery design) recently got hold of some jeweller's wax. it's pretty exciting. we're planing to make little pendants and stuff once we got some proper tools!

lols its still a work in progress - basic, so it's nothing obscene!

spent all my money on lace and fabric and started sewing bahaaha.

rewatched Wes Anderson movies. keyword is rewatched because i'm abit of a wa buff. i wish i was more nonchalant and deadpan all the time. one of my life goals would be to have unlimited resources of vintage suits and casio watches. i also did the Wolfgang Reitherman marathon. this i will write more in another post. once i start talking about movies being my muse, it'll be very difficult to stop.

and of course, the regular doodles. but i'll think i'll just post them up on facebook coz its easier.

other than spending alot of time at home and outings with ex high school mates, reunions, movie dates, trips to KL, that's pretty much it. me and my sister have also been doing the daily trip to pasar ramadhan. murtabak and tembikai susu is a daily fixture oledi. lately, i haven't been drawing much, and needless to say with less than 2 weeks before semester start, i have yet to start on my assignments wawawaaaaaa. i'm quite a loser lah, but better to take things slowly and relax before the next sem ey? word is, 4th sem is going to drive us all mental.

and i'm kind of looking forward to that.

oh how i've missed blogging. i find myself to be distant with you, blogger. i apologize. coz you see, life got in the way.

lately, i've taken up a new interest in sewing. shocker, i know! in high school, i used to believe i was cursed in the home economics department. the whole cooking/baking/sewing shoit just doesn't seem my niche and maybe that's why i've closed myself from ever diverging into those things. the fact that i once broke 3 needles in a row using the sewing machine (and one of them nearly went into my eye) seemed to cement the fact. i even sent my project to the tailor's coz i can't sew the sleeves on.

however, boredom can do wonders. and that was 3 years ago. even though i couldn't sew, i'd still keep bunches of stray fabric from here and there over the years. there's always this fascination with me and pretty fabric... my college peers would know this through my many hair 'accessories'

i was just home the other day and took out the ol' (and dusty) Brothers sewing machine and started playing around with scrap fabric and old large tshirts. once i got hang of using the machine, it was heaven... h-e-a-v-e-n. i cannot believe i never sewed earlier. all the clothes i could have made, the collection of fabrics i would have owned by now. all the skillz i'd have at the age of 19. amagaddd.

so say hello to my sewing machine. his name is Phineas. his brother, Ferb will be the serging machine i'm planning to buy soon.

say hello to some fabric i bought at Kamdar a few days ago. at about rm50, i am able to make 3 pieces of garment, of which 2 are already completed pieces of clothing. suck on that losers.

say hello to the cute buttons i bought. you are cheap and lovely and soooo very vintage looking. i love you.

say hello to the effin' awesome lace i bought today. yes, you may have cost me well over rm50 for a bunch of 'weaved cloth', but you are so pretty so i forgive you.

say hello to some stuff i made in the last 3 days. sewing is a new addiction, what can i say. it has seriously altered my biological clock. i've become nocturnal, sewing in the night and getting 3-4 hours of sleep a day. l-o-v-i-n it.

say hello to my new pretty camera casing :) okay it's still in progress. i do not have any padding material hence i am using my old socks from national service. these socks had gone from serving my feet, (and in essence, my country), and now my camera.

right now, being diy is really important to me. i've this new resolution to replace shopping for clothes with buying fabrics and the likes and making my own. it seems a abit ambitious, given the fact that i cant even sew a perfectly straight line, but i'm very happy to be indulging myself into this. though some people might think this is 'just a phase' (you know who you are), i'm hoping it's not ;)

oh and another thing:

i've made the subtle transition from nose stud to nose ring. hahaha nice? ;p

hello internet people.

nigh time i actually give some valuable input into this godforsaken blog. as free as i am, i can never really find the time to update as well as i should. between the eating and the tv and the name calling (the tale of tasnim and the dreaded upsr), it is very hard to produce artworks that i'm satisfied with. so here's the latest : we made tshirts! personal opinion? not the awful project i once thought it was. the finishing stages were cool because we didn't have to deal with the smelly emulsions and burning the templates in the dark room. so, it got a whole lot better towards finishing the stuff. it's pretty cool to know how to print designs on tshirts, but i doubt i'll be doing more of it soon in my lifetime.

Can you guess the theme? PIRATES! garrrrr!!!!!! -.- yea okay. once you've stopped laughing or scratching your head, our anti-piracy campaign tshirts are pretty cool. ^ treasure chest and parchment-ish pirate bay website tshirt. tie dyed! hahha. well whatever, we love them. the packaging:

admittedly, making the papiér mache skull in the middle of the night is pretty scary. the aircond creaking, the still night air, the constant paranoia...hmm. so ^ that's a skull and a rum barrel. they're pretty believable, emm right. problem? kudos to exceptionally hardworking team mates! garr i love you all.

on another note : it was also amidst making all of this that the homeland was facing abit of a maelstrom. what i'm really referring to is the aftermath of the rally. different opinions can lead to altercations not specifically related to said belief in the first place. as seen on the wide platform that is the internet...it's not good (and embarrassing). understandably, people tend to say things they don't mean in the heat of the moment, but i must ask if the racial and personal insults really necessary? not to mention the juvenile comebacks (much to our chagrin) that make you sound like an ingrate undergraduate. garrrrrrrr. that is the reality. if there is anything to take from this, i've never been prouder to see so many people united in one cause before.

lol garrr ok all seriousness aside, i've said enough. it's easier to keep opinions all to me onesy than deal with the close minded comments that come after.

assignment : design maximalism
theme : nature

one of my favourite assignments, really. i loved working with maximalism. it wasn't easy planning it... as busy as the term 'maximalism' may be, the notebook cover still had to be refined - or at least up to my lec's standards. i went with a lotus flower vibe, with plenty of gold/purple/magenta hues, scarabs, stitching and some wooden beads. i also reffed of a bunch of sanskrit words for nature, mother, earth and green. pretty neat kan? Btw the pressed daisy - i cilok from my uncle's wedding last december hohoho.

detail shots - every gold leaf has a different nature element to it (flower, leaves, seashells, water drops, blablabla). i also used magazine articles, tinfoil, and sugar paper for the external petals.

i stitched in some thick cotton threads to match the purple-magenta-turqoise canvas

(though hardly visible in the pictures)

and my favourite part for the whole thing:

the inside pages explode! haha. i doubt my notebook is very practical...

coffee stains + salt + drops of cobalt blue poster color while it's still wet. neat right? the salt adds a really cool freckly effect, aaaaand it adds an extra effect to the whole assignment : scented pages!

final marks : 20/20

Remember this assignment? Well, apparently it just hit me that I've not blogged about my Art Nouveau portrait. I know I'm a noob, sometimes things just slip my mind - despite this artwork being one of my favourites. But mmm yea better late than never lol.

So anyways, of course there were many art movements to choose from. Fauvism, Symbolism, Dada, Cubism, Da Stijl (the list goes on and on - Daniel should be proud of me for remembering more than 3!) In the end I chose Alphonse Mucha's Art Nouveau. Ornament is a crime, you say? Well screw you, and screw Bauhaus! Ornament is never a crime! Detail is everything, and boy do I love details harharhar. Everything about this art movement is uh-mayyy-zingly pretty and yes you can definitely say it's love at first sight.

I did alot of research - by research I mean googling and saving (almost) every single artwork by Mucha himself - it did a lot of help and made me very familiar with his stroke style. Then I got my dad to take a few portraits of me for reference. Awkward? Yes. Posing in fancy fancy poses is weirddddd when your dad's the photographer. Tahan ketawa is on the main agenda. And time is varied to the level of patience one's father posses. Don't laugh:

I chose a different picture though. Coz like, I thought my head tilted up made me look pretty-bad-ass-and-no-you don't-wanna-mess-with-me-bro kind of face. Yea totally vain. The main color scheme for this portrait is very gypsy-esque. (a recurring theme in many of my artworks). Lots of purple and pink and turquoise and I wanted to put in as many original patterns by Mucha himself (stars, fleur-de-lis, whiplash patterns, etc).

Mhmm mhm so I think I've bored you enough with my stories and explanations. Here's some progress screenshots and the final artwork itself. It's my proudest one to date, and also the one I've spent most time working on. For a digital artwork I mean.

P-P-P-Poker Face

Dear Kelly,

One of the most amazing things about being in an art college is, you never really know what to expect for the big semester project. That being said, for History of Art and Design Class, we were assigned to create a character and design a costume! I know, like tré magnifique! Favourite faaaaavourite project like duh.

My group chose two art movements: Op Art and Pop Art as the main concept, and we wanted to develop this idea about recreating Gambit. He's a pretty popular Marvel character (mostly among boyz duh), and we were totally stoked about going with the idea of creating this aloof, mysterious, charismatic, smart-alect (and sexy) dude. I have to say, staying back after Drawing 2 class with my group mates and brainstorming personality ideas were really the best part. I don't even know how, but yea his favorite snack is Strawberry Pokki and he picks up da ladies by throwing card at them mmhm yea lol.

We christened our little boii Jack Williams, a gambler from the streets. He's like this ultra genius with cards and con-artist. A personification of a 'poker face' really - heavily influenced by Lady Gaga's song since she's as much as a pop icon as Andy Warhol ever was or wtv.

The final presentation for this project was on the final day of our second semester (boohoo) so, things got a bit last minute. Up until the deadline, we were all pretty busy with our Stopmotion project (I'll post about it soon) and our LCS presentation. Prior to that, there was our Maximalism notebook design (which I will post soon too) and some other shoit. Still, my group mates were awesome people, and I'm proud to have been their group leader.

Major kudos to the boys and our model, Chin for being an awesome sport. The impromptu jamming sessions were a real treat and made working with you guys an awesome time. Ok, enough werdz.

sem 2 is coming to an end. it's so sad. new faces, new lecs, new subjects. can't believe it's been three months. but change is good, kan?

i'm really going to miss everyone so very epicly. they've been uh-mayyy-zing classmates, i couldn't have asked for more. but then again, i'm excited to finally start majoring. foundation is fun and all, but i say it's high time to bring on the motherload (albeit being the short sem). the only turn off are the 3 choices after a few semesters - modelling, visual effects, and another one i can't remember. like whut?

Three Dimensional Psychobitch

LOL looks something like a Vampire Weekend cd cover. Anywayyyyy. My butt is aching so the badly right now. Been sitting infront of the laptop for about 10 hours now, going back and forth from ON layer visibility to OFF layer visibility. This is actually quite embarrassing, but I'm stoked to share the other portraits I did for my recent History of Art and Design project. Photography was a pretty open topic, so I decided to go back to my roots and role play as a woman from the early 1900s Malaya. I did the photoshoot at the townhouse with my dad's help after assembling the set up with a bunch of pashminas and batik cloths from my mum's room. As an added touch, I put in this vintage typewriter (doesn't even work anymore) my dad scored during a bootsale in London 2 years ago along with some trinket boxes and hard covered books that make me look like I belong. I wore this yellow Kebaya top, coupled with this beaded choker my dad bought in Turkmenistan and a white flower hairpin. And this awesome earrings I bought for £2! It had this screw-on-the-ear thingy that I thought is super cool and super 'old'. I also posed with my dad's Kodak TLR (another vintage find in London). It's pretty much 'vintage' overdose but that was my intention in the first place. The only screw up was that I forgot to bring my skirt and was wearing Nike sweatpants throughout the whole thing! I think my mum had a pretty good laugh about it.

My mum was like, "Don't smile! Wait smile, but control it. And don't be too happy!".

So I end up looking sleepy.

Nice right? Editing was pretty simple - Dad downloading this Photoshop edit thingy that has all the cool features old daguerreotypes had. It has the noise, sepia tones, vignettes, dusts, scratches, and all that shebang. It was madness, madness! Through it all, this was the one I submitted:

All in all, wonderfully fun, and couldn't have done it without my folks. I think a huge reason my Dad complied with my shenanigans was because he could play with his new M9! Hehe.

March is a good month for movies and concerts. April is a good month for Adam. And also another year towards being 2 decades old. Oh yeah and duhh, the dearly longed semester break. I can feel it in my guts and bones. Yes. And by the way, not that 'tits' is a funny word, but it's frickin hilarious when the english says it, innit? (finally watched King's Speech today lol. Stuttering men have never been this hot hahaha). I love Geoffrey Rush. He so damn fiiiiiiiine. Helena is gorgeous. Suffice to say I should've been born a 1930's English woman. Royal or blue blood. YES.

Life. So very epic if people actually dress like this everyday. Even if they're out buying bread.

Exploration week is here, and last Thursday felt like a Saturday. Us darling students of TOA are all getting this one week break to recollect ourselves and get a head start on projects and whatnot (work on pending assignments for some). Still, I had replacement classes till Wednesday and until then, haven't really been able to breathe a sigh of relief. Did not really sleep for two days in a row, compensated with a 14 hour sleep as soon as I landed on the couch at home. But all's good now, I still have two days ahead of me before Monday. For someone who has classes 6 days a week, a two day weekend is a godsend.

So anyways, I think I mentioned before that I was pretty stoked for my History of Art and Design assignment. Basically, it's all about expressing ourselves in four different medias: traditional, photography, modern art and freestyle. So erm yea, below are some of the inspiration, WIPs and the final outcome for my freestyle.

I based the style on Lucy McLauchlan's whole marker pen vibe with the birds and feathers and mixed it together with Kelly Smith's fabulous pencil sketch+watercolor style. It's seriously epic. And since it's also about expressing our own personality, I decided to do that weird word-hair thingy that I always do in my other artworks (They're mostly lyrics and crap words that emerge during random moments of drawing).

It's gonna be a rushed weekend. On Monday we'll be hearing the almighty Tatsun giving his almighty speech the whole day, so it's goodbye to procrastination tomorrow. About time to reignite the dimming flame, I'd say. I don't know what to anticipate since I'm pretty decided on the whole course thing. Guess we'll just see. Apart from the interesting week (sick, got new team mates, reminiscing on life, acapella in cg lab), nothing much happened. Oh! And also the taxi driver who kissed Charlie's ass this morning with his hood. It's cliché to say it but yea, Malaysian drivers sark. Except me and my folks.

I know it's been a while since I wrote to you. But know that, despite other priorities, you'll always have that special place in my heart. If you must know, last week my group finally submitted our paper sculpture project for design 2. Despite being frustrated the week before, R's unexpected absence gained our group some extra time to do some the minute touch ups to the otherwise pretty-but-not-so-perfect sculpture. Here's some crappy wip handphone shots, some via Wesley's cam and the final outcome.

Honest to god, I heart arranging the pashmina to make it look like regal drapes so much. Add in a few decoupage boxes, empty champagne glasses, and Pop's old '57 Kodak duaflex - hey presto! Vintage English background and Kebaya top for wanita-zaman-dulu shot. I also felt that the idea of using my Topshop lace shirt as a curtain was ingenious. Honestly, how much more epic can I be? Hahaha. Credit goes to me dad for being patient dengan kerenah anak sulong. I'll show them to you once I've completed all four. 2 more weeks, 3 down to go! Wish me luck ;)

I'll be hitting the sack soon. So sleepy. The weather is bullocks. Hot one moment and then heavy rain, wtf. And I'm home alone now. Too-lazy-to-watch-Inception lazy. Watching Gary Unmarried and The Unit reruns. ANYBODY WATCH MISFITS? I need somebody to fangirl with. Robert Sheehan is too epic and occupies 80% of my thoughts the past weekend. I am back from my mini hiatus. Kelantan oh Kelantan. The place where wireless internet connection is scarce, and good food is not. I say, I need to change my regime soon. Keyword: active lifestyle. Didn't really plan to stay there too long, but alas things never really go according to plan, do they? Apart from playing with Emsidéng all day, flipping through outdated Vanity Fair/GQ pages, bird hunting+plucking feathers, joyful afternoon naps, watching about a million NCIS season 7 episodes and not calorie counting, the whole trip was unproductive. Sob sob. So now we're all back, and reality comes crashing down like a heavy blanket. Pretty ballsy move on my behalf, neglecting my assignments for the whole week. They're quite the stack. Argggh. Haha ok other than that, got meself a new sketchbook, so here's to make up for the past week:

Radiohead, DCFC, Beat13-esque, I don't know, feeling magical, Tasnim's bedazzlin' designs, my sisters' butt and expressions, Emsidéng the neighbour's cat, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, teaching my uncle about face proportions.

I'im kind of lost for my portraits research. For Desmond's class we're all supposed to be doing 4 different interpretations of ourselves using traditional media, photography, a close imitation of modern art and something open to our own ideas. I'm kind of seeing a very gypsy vibe. Or something regal with lots of fur and drapes in the background? Or maybe something very nonchalant like an Oscar Wilde still... or maybe a lego portrait like that White Stripe video. I should stop myself now. Lost is a wrong term. Undecided/fickle-minded is more like it. Dear oh dear, what am I to do Kelly?

On another note, a friend texted me last week and told me that the notorious Mr William used my Alice in Wonderland pop up as a reference/example for the younger first sem kids. I'm not boasting, but it's a nice feeling that it's appreciated after all the effort put into that project. Enough to make me smile aaaaaall the way ride home. If you see me driving alone and grinning ear to ear, pls understand why.

Spitting Out The Demons

Au contraire Kelly, I know the title sounds slightly unsettling and UNGODLY (especially for my parents reading this) but it's just a song title. Gorillaz is the shizz. Anyways, I'm having one of those 'reflective' days. I know I told myself I would steer away from new year resolutions, but as fickle minded people go, we never stick to what we say anyway. I'd say they're not really resolutions, but more like aims and little goals I want to accomplish for myself, aye?

as always, I'm supposed to be doing my History of Art+Design essays instead of burlogging.

One, start taking the Federal Highway on the way back everyday since college is starting to end in the afternoons. So I don't have to pay toll, obviously. Jams only ever start in the evening when people are pissy and wanna get home after a hard day's work. So yes, check that in my list. Secondly, save me more mulah. Been spending like shoit, I don't really know where my paycheck went. A Topshop here, a Zara there, and suddenly my little red clutch is emptyyyy - albeit the year end sale :( Umi always tell me that I'm a ~~bit~~ of an impulsive shopper. I suppose she's right. I'm trying to restrain myself from being too passionate in shopping malls. Its just slightly hard to do when everything is so pretty. Grow a couple, Khalis. Hehe. Thirdly, concentrate on my assignments more. Or maybe I'm reaching for the stars here. I always tell myself that, but I never do it anyway hehe. Not much can be said about the past week and a half, I'd been slacking at home after coming back from college early. That's just it with me, when I have loads of time on my hand, I lose this sense of urgency to finish off assignments. I hate that last-minute adrenaline, but I can't shake it off my habits. Dvds would always look more important at the time. Fourthly, facebook only once a day? Another one of those impossible-but-I-want-to-do-it-anyway goals. Facebook is like...like tic tacs. They're yummy and little, and you just consume it little by little. At the end of the day, the whole container is empty and you don't even realize it. Haha. Apologies for my inane analogies (hey it rhymes!). It sounded so much smarter in my brainz. Fifthly (lol fifthly is a weird word) update my DA account. I'm always lazyyyyyy to scan artworks. I need ~~street~~ online cred bad. Sixthly, write to you more. Seventhly, read more. I'm beginning to feel abit dumb and incoherent in the way I talk now. Last time I really read a book must've been about a year ago. I miss books. I miss nerding in my room and knowing I have other obligations like chores, but would continue reading anyways. Hells yea that's the life. Eighthly - ok screw this. I thought I'd make 10, coz 10 is a nais number. But who am I fooling, I'd be so damn proud of myself if I'd scratch off 3 by the end of this sem, which is like... April.

And I think I don't have to say anything as cliché as 'trying to be a better person' and 'lose weight'.

Dear Kelly,

Now tell me brief images of your primary school days just appeared before your eyes! I simply could not have survived my preteens without this show. No, I could not. Lizzie became my caucasian and glamorous double and I watched her every night to gain new wisdom if ever such a creature like Kate Saunders would come and call names at my clothes. Lizzie was the peanut to my jelly, the pencil to my eraser, the koolaid to my sandwhich.

I, have just spent the last 2 hours watching a couple of my favourite Lizzie McGuire episodes. Clue-less ( the one with the murder mystery party at Lizzie's ) and Scarlett Larry ( Larry crushes on Lizzie ). I don't think I ever missed an episode. And if I did, I'd watch the reruns religiously. Sigh, hello memory lane. I remember those days in the pinafore and baju kurung school uniform, wanting to dress like Lizzie to school. I did not swoon for Ethan Craft, the Tudge was and still is the coolest cat of the show. I want a beige polo with lime collars bad. And Gordo. You make me want to hacky-sack all day in college ♥ It kills me that no one, excepting Miss Duff became more than the potential they showed in this show.

HAHAHA MIRANDA JUST KILLS ME. I LOVE GORDO'S CYNICAL YET SELFLESS WISDOM. NEED TO GET COMPLETE DVD SET REAL BAD.

Keira Knightley, so strong, so quick witted and so brit. Her flat chest also kills me (and her bf is so totally gorgeous. Gorgeous people belong together). Robert Sean Leonard and Hugh Laurie, I don't even have to say*NGNNNNNNG*. Thom Yorke is pure genius and Jake Gyllenhaal makes me swoon for two nights in a row.
I only ever draw my favouritest people in the whole wide world. Simply cannot survive without the thrill that is Hollywood. It's stupid, childish and impossible, but I don't want to just meet them, I wanna be their ultimate BFFFs ( got that from Pineapple Express ) so I can sit within a 5m proximity without coming off as a stalker...or a freak...or a weirdo. It's their fault you know. They have very pretty eyes.

I really want to draw mr cool aka Jay Kay and Zoe Saldana and Rachael Yamagata and Tavi Gevinson and Javier Bardem and Dave-perfect-teeth-Grohl and Matt McFadyen and that lead from Hujan and Marky Mark and a bald Natalie Portman and Adele and a red haired Gerard Way and Grace Kelly wearing a wedding veil and Kanye with a non-asshole expression, but I haven't come across a nice picture of it yet. And now, 2 days before the first day of 2nd semester, I'm gonna do my assignments. I hate last minute things. But seeing my list, I don't think I could've worked on it earlier anyways. I can't believe I did everything in three weeks. It's seriously been the most packed December of my life. Still, I'm thankful. After a whole month of being high on inspiration, ideas, with family and friends, visiting my great grandmother at the end of it all served as a wake up call, something to pull me back to earth. I'm glad and sad at the same time that what happened happened, but it's out of my hands and everything occurs for a reason. Aya stayed behind to help Ibu out with Onyang.

Let's hope the new year brings something good, aye? Even though my first day of the new year's been pretty gloomy so far, I'm gonna try to remain as optimistic as ever for 2011.

Argh I do not posses the most powerful memory to say the least. I wish I could remember more of all the amazing things I did this year. I should start a diary. Or write to you more, Kelly. Still, everybody I know had spread their wings. Pops pretty much travelled the whole world and took bloody gorgeous pictures in Russia, Egypt, Turkmenistan, South Africa, Vietnam, wherever. Mommy finally got involved in a project she's been dreaming of forever. Putaya SPM. Atif had a wake up call, hopefully. Anim... hahaa I don't really know. Oyea she got an iPod touch.

And to wrap off a wonderful year, December is just wonderful on a whole different level. I don't think I've stayed at home more than 2 days in a row. Everyday is magical. Even sleep is magical. Food is magical, Dora the Explorer is magical... Ok. Shan't talk more, December deserves a post on its own for its magicality. Haha.

Every night since my break started, my sister and I have been watching movies on youtube. We both nuzzle in our duvets and comfy jammies, wearing half a headphone each because my laptop can only fit in one pair haha. Then halfway through the movie we'd change poses because our chin hurts from supporting our head weight on the pillow too long and make sure the door is locked to hinder younger siblings from menyibuk. Life is good when internet connection is fast at home. Re-watching old Disney cartoons certainly makes life better when you have gorgeous people like John Smith (those baby blues get me everytime). So far : Ella Enchanted, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas.... I know the princess thing is a recurring theme, but I can't help it! Oyea also half way through Pulp Fiction. There's so many great movies that I want to watch personally, but right now, I'm walking down memory lane and watching the stuff that got me dreamin' through my growing up. But I'm so open to suggestions because I'm fast running out of titles.

BTW: BFF got new tumblr. Like finally, I've been waiting forever. I hereby order you to stalk her. But be nice : antisnickers. Me, I'm anti makanan pedas hikhikhik~

Here's some pictures of my pop up project for Mr William's class. If I think about it, it really is the subject I complain about the most. Still, it's also very fun since we get to buy many many pretty papers and little stickers. And ribbons. Oyea and feathers and... other miscellaneous pretty things. You get the picture.

I wanted to do something like a children's pop up book. I want little princess girls and gay boys to be like wowwww when they see the little details and funky patterns on the wall, and wish they were Alice after falling down that stupid rabbit hole. I remember, as a child, always feeling abit potong steam when I turn the pages, and be like, 'that's it?' kind of feeling, especially when the pop ups don't really live up to my expectations. So I made sure I terlebih sikit with mine, haha. Hopefully not too much though.

Steadier Footing

Dear Kelly,

I'm exhausted. I never really used to complain about driving, but today really took the cake. After college, from Sunway, I drove to Damansara to pick up the liddle brodder and liddle sisturr and then head to Shah Alam. On the way, liddle brodder gave wrong directions so we took a wrong turn and ended up spending an extra hour on the way, not to mention the two painstaking hours driving back! Argh I mean, I know KL traffic is a bummer, especially in the evening, but it was like seriously what-the-hellish. You'd think after spending almost 3 months driving to college everyday (OMFG 3 months already??) I'd get used to the traffic and be like 'whatever'. But noooooo....hehehe which is why I take the NPE highway home everyday from college. I confess it is pretty esspensiss to pay rm3.20 one way, but that's the price I pay to reach home quickly. I feel bad for the people who have no choice but to go through with it everyday, I really do. I don't even bother so much when they try to cut my line (without signal too) anymore, because fussing about it will only get me pissed. And they won't even know it, because everyone is tired after work to even care why that little girl with the driver's seat pushed all the way in front in the beat-up orange Gen2 is suddenly fuming and yelling.

On another note, my semester break starts in less than two weeks! Oh, dreamworld here I come. Cuddling in my selimut with the fan blasted to level 3 pointed right in my face and waking up late with pening kepala seems like a distant memory. No, I don't sleep with aircond, though we have it. For some reason, I cannot stand aircond air, I just don't. It's freaky dicky (lol dicky). So very totally looking forward to sleeping and seeing some faces I've missed looking and talking with for a while. I feel so reclusive all of a suddenz :/ Oh! aaaaaand drawing (without deadlines!), making awesome moodboards, planning to learn Sparks by Coldplay on the guitar, making crochets, and working on a little surprise that's hopefully coming soon, Heheheheheheeeehehe! (menggedik on the bed as of this moment), please excuse.

I'll post some pictures of my Alice in Wonderland pop-up project soon, Kelly. Though I'm really excited to show it to you (It's really pretty!), I won't post them now because I'm lazy to find the transfer cable, and I'm too tired to type more shit into this thing anyway. And my ass: KEBAS. Hahaha. Still love you Kelly.

Dear Kelly,

I hope it's not too late to wish you a Selamat Hari Raya. Albeit not being very festive today, I'd still like to wish you and everybody reading this. Umi, Atif and Anim are in Kedah, so me and Aya, went to 1U with Pops to have lunch at Chillies. Parking was a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch, even the huge Medan parking outside was full, like waddahell. We did not have lemang nor did we have ketupat, instead I had Southwestern, while Aya makan Cajun steak.... and I don't know what that thing Abi ordered is called. Still, that's how we roll. Pakai baju Raya summore ok.

Right now I'm supposed to be reading my Malaysian Studies notes. But anything above 25 pages fails to keep me concentrated... it's awful, and dreadfully boooooooring, and all I want to do is just do my Drawing1 and Figure Study assignments :( I don't know why I always end up doing things last minute. 30 minute after-college naps always end up to be 3 hour regrets. Oh wellz.

Dear Kelly,

They say bad things happen in threes (okay, I got that from Lucky Number Slevin actually). But just because it does not come in threes does not mean its good, kan? Well, I'm not going to walk around saying I'm unlucky. But I must admit I feel rather clumsy lately. Hence resulting to the unluckiness. Pagi ni when driving to college kan, some dude hit Charlie sampai his telinga (side mirror) terpe'ot and scared the shoit of me. Not to mention I was already 10 minutes late for Design1. Oh the week before Charlie kena calar skit. I like to think Charlie got like, tatoo on the side of his body. Maybe that would make Aya feel better kan, since you were driving? Hehe Aya jadi tattoo artist. Another thing, I kind of scratched my hand when I was taking some coins out from my tabung for toll. Its not bad, but pedih skit la when I basuh tangan. Hehe I sound like a drama queen, kan Kelly? And oh my gosh the other day I was taking a shower and suddenly that pressing thingy you press to get the shower foam out decided to spray right into my right eye. I gotta tell you Kelly, THAT hurt. Mata bengkak separuh hari. Not only that, but my eye secreted eye gunk for the rest of the day. Like, epic yuck. I felt like my eye was going to foam every time I blinked. What the hell. At least it smelt like Lux Lavender Creme Bath. Haha.

It's already November. Where the hell did my year go larrr? It's so frickin fast. It seemed like maybe just a few weeks ago I enrolled in college, not 2 months. And now, even exploration week (humorously called ASSplosion week by some kiddies in class) dah habis. At this rate, will my 3 years in TOA feel like a breeze? Dear oh dear. I feel like my life is a Lambo, living in the fast lane and going too fast for me to enjoy the scenery (fewitt so feeling). Ironically I drive a Gen2. Which is like, the crappiest car in the world. It farts every time I press on the break and vibrates all the time. But I still love it - dents, scratches, dirt, grime and all. Shoot which reminds me I really need to give Gen2 a bath. I gave it a name btw. Dah lama dah, but now I'm mentioning it to you Kelly. He's Charlie. Cute kan? Just like me. Hehehehhehehe

The internet at home really sark lately. Been down almost the whole week. But since Umi and Pops got back from Vietnam yesterday, Abi fixed it. Thank god. I just don't roll without internet, you get what I'm saying? One, assignments just 'cannot go' without internet, and secondly: I hate unfacebooking days. Notifications pile up like unwanted college assignments. You just don't want to deal with that kid of shoit. You just don't. Also my itunes playlist sark. Vampire Weekend cd played over 30+ times. Ergo Youtube is vital.

Oh oh also kan Kelly, right now I'm working on a pop up project for Finished Art. I'm doing an 'Alice in Wonderland' (or 'Khalis' in Wonderland for that matter) kind of theme, and we have to come up with a prototype by next week Toozday. Kelly, I don't know howdafark I'm gonna do it. I'm being too ambitious with crazy ideas and now since Mr William dah suka my proposal there's no turning back. Why always like this one aa? WHY WHY WHYYYY la. Aiyaaaa putayaa. Don't like paper engineering :( Mr William so pe'e and hard to please.

And since I'm telling you about sarky classes, I'm gonna rant about my non sarky class, Figure Studies! It's so fun lah ok. And I don't mean posing with the hot dolls in the Mannequin Studio Block M. Haha. The lecturer (I know, I'm horrible for still not catching his name after two months) is like this wise dude, spreading wisdom to his immature and dumb students on how to draw a nice ideal face. HEHE. According to him, we need to master drawing caucasians first. Because that's the market these days. That or Pan-Asians. Waddahell. Whateverrrrr. Also the studio is damn cool. I don't know if it's the dolls or the lighting, but I feel so artsy fartsy in Paris lah, not Bandar Sunway, KL. Oh well. My time abroad will come soon. I hope. Hope!

So I did a rockstar and a mermaid!

Alls I can say is that it's been uber fun and uber stressful. It's funsful.

Finished art is all about making fancy boxes and shit with paper. It's pretty cool, but also a major pain in the ass. History of art and design is okaaay, but all we did so far is a Sejarah recap. It's kind of weird that we have to do a movie review about stealing a Da Vinci, though. Especially when the guy is pretty dumb. Polish is not the same as Russian is it? Coz I thought it was... It sure sounded alike.... Well you guys wouldn't know what I'm talking about anyways. My favourite subject is, of course, Figure Studies. This week ( since we're required to draw 4 portraits per week, fully shaded and everything ) I'm gonna draw Miranda Kerr, Shia LeBeouf, that chick in the Estee Lauder ad and some hot European dude Wenis gave me. Sigh, banyaknya.... Not to mention my CG Class and other research shoits.

I can't wait for exploration week! Home assignments aside, I'll be doing plenty of exploration! On my bed that is! Hehe I need to compensate ok.

So Umi and Pops are finally coming back from South Africa tomorrow, I cannot wait! I missed you guys so much! We all did. Got nice nice souvenirs onot? Besides, when you guys are back, I can actually drive to college hehehe ;) Just kidding.

I've been seeing a lot of people posting stuff in foreign languages lately. On facebook, blogposts, tweets...everywhere. Man, aren't we're all just dreamers? Wanting to live in Paris and speak le beau( tiful ) language and wear a spritz of Chanel No. 5 and consequently charm the most magnifique member of the opposite sex? Yes. Yes, we all do.
Still, reality will come crashing down on us soon enough. And of course, we're stuck with le intéressant ( interesting ) slang that is Manglish. Siot betul kan? Harharhar, I am so witty sometimes.

I've gots to bring in 5 designs by tomorrow and it shucks coz I don't loike the ideas I've oledi gots :( Not to mention the buttloads of drawings, damn currogated board boxes, 500 word movie reviews and 10 page essays. Argh waddafarrrrk betul la.

Dear Kelly,

Here's what I did today : Picked a baju kurung for Angeline, went to wash Gen2 in Taman Desa where the dudes previously trashed Pops' Actyon, bought some bread, picked Jason from college, got lost on the way to Marissa's house ( awesome spaghetti, btw ), came home, helped Umi clear the kitchen cabinets, got jealous of Selena Gomez's hair, and bunked in for movie time. What a wonderful Saturday.

10 minutes ago, my whole family bunked in the living room to watch Cold Mountain. I bought this movie 'coz of this video. We did the whole shebang: dark room, comfy blankets with everybody nuzzling into the sofa ( minus Padre, who's currently in Turkmenistan ). At the moment, my heart is still aching Inman's ( Jude Law ) death. Such a tragedy that story is. I feel so down in the dumps :(

So.... like, I am such a bum when it comes to scanning things. I do not like to plug that little USB thingy into my notebook and turn the scanner on. I don't, I just don't. It is a mystery to me, and shall remain that way for the rest of time.

This drawing is actually an old one, I did it some time before college started. Over-excitement was due to some new drawing pens I got from my friend, and well, when you get something new, you just have to try it out straight away la kan? ;)

Like Old Times

Dear Kelly,

Tomorrow is my first class as a college student. I have Design I. God knows whatever that is, but I guess I'll know tomorrow. We're all required to bring a bunch of pens and pencils and art block. I really feel like a little girl, like on my first day of school you know, back when I was Standard 1. Childhood days when I had to pack buku Tatabahasa and a blue pencil to underline my dates and titles for Mrs Sidhu's English grammar book, and baju PJK if I don't want to kena from Puan Chia. Now I'm packing all my stuff early and checking I got everything ready just as I did almost 11 years ago. Which goes to show I easily get excited over ~~everything~~ ~~anything~~ nothing.

Still, how can I not be when I've waited so long to finally get into art school kan? Wish me luck Kelly!

Hero of a Tragedy

Dear Kelly,

To start off : I passed my JPJ test baby! Hohoho, I will be terrorizing the streets of KL very soon, Kelly! I shall think that drivers of the world are afraid. Very afraid to see me behind the wheel. It was pretty nerve wrecking but all's good. Kausar did a good job too, seeing as how we both got 18/20 for our Part 3 road test. I had misproper use of handbrakes. Kausar tak bagi signal. And we both didn't change our gears right. But gears schmears, Gen2 is automatic. And I will be driving that ~~piece of junk~~ very proudly!

Ok. I watched Dead's Poet's Society a few days ago. I have only watched it once, but it's fast becoming one of my favourite movies of all time. Such joy one can gain by watching Hollywood celebrities in their noober and younger days.

Hmm, I never realized how daaaarling Ethan Hawke can be. All my life, I've always had a problem with celebrities with gigi rongok. Ethan Hawke being one of them. Oh my god, and even Mark Strong. Even though he has the look, its just not meant to be, you see, for celebrities should be able to afford proper dental care. Still, he is very charming in his role as the timid and shy student. One can really swoon at the sight of his adorability. Josh Charles was good too. I was only a fan of him in Four Brothers. Still, I cannot comment much about Mr Charles, for I am very nooby about him.

Also, just so you know, Kelly dear. I don't think there's anything cuter than Robert Sean Leonard in his younger days. I am such a noob for taking this long to realize this very very important fact.

My hand very the sakit now for using the tablet too long. And, it's 4.02 am now. I probably can have an hour ~~sleep~~ nap before Sahur. I guess I be leaving.

A lot of people seem to think my celebrity portraits are mere edits from a Google image or something. Just to clarify, that it is referred to an image from Google but I copied ( ok la, artified ) it stroke by painful stroke in Photoshop, kay. I have the sore wrist to prove it. I even watermarked the drawing, hehehe.

P.S., if you look closely at the four background pictures on the wall of the top scene, they may seem very familiar! Especially the top right one! Haha!

Back in London, when my mummy ( in her student days ) would feed me in her own special ways. She would make chicken soup with potatoes and carrots and rice and blend everything together so that I would be able to consume it just like that. Haha, style lah konon. Sometimes, when I browse through old pictures, I wish Umi had made me listen to Mozart or Bach or something when I was in her belly. Maybe that way I would've developed some kind of prodigal-child brain maturity and actually remember my baby days there. All the snow, the baby jammies, the Ruskie biscuits.
Mmm...so many things I don't remember.

1995.

Zaman pre-UPSR was such a blur, I don't really remember much of it. All I remember was constantly waking up late, my lazy prefectorial days, spending my mornings on the staircase with Casandra while reading a book about dog breeds, talking about last night's Lizzie McGuire with Medina, mengaji after school with Ustazah Rokiah and straightening my hair so many times that I pretty much screwed the hair follicles till this day. Hence, the rambut-cacat image below.

It dawned on me how people think of different things as we progress to different stages in life. Like last month, I'd be thinking about this thursday's driver's test with the JPJ officer. Early this year, I'd be wondering if I can make friends at PLKN, and before that, worrying if I'd be getting good results for SPM.

I wonder what I'll be thinking about in 5 years' time.

Kelly Kelly Kelly!

I'm feeling so very temperamental today. I'm not on cycle, but if you see me, you'd figure I was. I'm moody as if I'm PMS-ing, hungry and cranky all the time ( thirsty, mostly ), and having such terrible break-outs on my face. Lo and behold, I have a pimple the size of a Volkswagon on my forehead :( It looks like a Bindi from far. Not the pretty kinds. But the pimply kinds, which is not very flattering at all. It's very weird. Everything is weird. And my hair is a wreck today. The whole scenario reminds me so much of days at school when I'm moody and Mr Justin would assume I was on cycle and do mental calculations to check when I'm due in that time of the month.

Oh and this morning when I woke up for Sahur, I remember I had the strangest dream in the world. I think it had something to do with a volcano. And Ben Affleck. I wonder is it because of the baked beans? Then I got ready and had driver's class alone at 9. I don't think I screwed up that much. I had a pleasant conversation with the strangest old woman while waiting for Cikgu Aizan to pick me up. She went on and on about her stolen car. But she was sweet. Not sombong like the counter chicks at Metro. I think they're secretly jealous of my bag. Can't blame them I guess.

And I'm listening to Death Cab For Cutie now. I feel so emo when I hear Ben's voice. Erm. Who wants to cry with me? I'll add in a lil' Jeff Buckley sadness into the sappy playlist.
And want to know what I wish for most like, right now? To scan my drawings and upload it on Blogger without having to Photoshop it because one does sark at it so very much. Bluek Bluek Bluek.

Hi Kelly!

Exciting news! I totally got into mood yesterday to conjure life histories for my little green-haired sexy. After some serious thought, I've decided to give him a brother. Not sure if he'll be a big brother or a twin, but a brother nevertheless! Muahaha! And he'll have Pink hair! Yes, PINK! And he'll be super smexy too. Now, I'm still working on the whole thing, and I'm really trying my best to make them as interesting as possible, I just hope you'll like it Kelly.
Soon, baby soon.

Oh! And I even gave them a set of best friends! How divine! They can be their dorm mates, or band mates, or childhood buddies, or whatever, I dont know... I still haven't decided. And it's all thanks to Mummy's watercolor set that I found in the corner of the office. If I had not seen them, this sudden burst of interest to paint & draw would've been very much impossible.

Haha it's all still very rough, but I kinda like how this looks. Coz everybody's kind of giving each other the stink eye, and the poses are all kind of girly, and I made the long haired blonde look super gay with that pose. ~~Wtf~~ What is with the shoulder? And the hand?? Argh Epic fail. I don't know what I was thinking. I just know I love it. Don't care if you don't. Harharhar.

Green Hair, Baby

Well good evening there, Kelly dear!
Hope you didn't miss me too much, after all, I did visit you a couple of days ago.
Anyhoots, just thought I'd share with you something that's been lingering in my subconsciousness these couple of weeks. If you recall, darling, I may have mentioned the lack of 'muse' in my previous post that resulted in zilch artworks... Aha, well, I may have exaggerated the 'zilchness' ( wink wink! )

Because actually, there is something that I've been working on.

You know how some people / artists just have this... this knack when it comes to character design? Well, because even though I'm no good at it, I must confess that I've found this sudden interest in that too. Character design, I mean. It's fascinating to have this image of a person in your mind, this personality that you so wish could conjure a person upon, and in the end, after hours of becoming a slave to the unmerciful pen & uncomfortable chair : obtain such satisfactory feelings when you can see the person on paper. It's so satisfying, it's like... eating the perfect roti canai ( Shoot which reminds me, Puasa is coming soon... )

Of late, doodles are comprised mainly of sketches of this fellow I'm working on. I find him deeply attractive ( Ordinarily, since he is the product of my ~~amazing~~ creativity, hoo-haa! ). I would very like to introduce him to you, Kelly. I think you'd like him very well. He's mysterious, gorgeous, a bit of a trouble maker, and has green hair. But alas, he is still in the works. I haven't even come up with his birth day. So you'll have to be patient my dear until he is perfecto-mundo to be revealed to the whole world. He is such a delicate soul, and I can't bear to cause any imperfections to the product of my brain-child.

Oh hello my dear KellySpaghetti,

Sorry I've been neglecting you these past couple of weeks, it's just that you have to understand, my dear, that good inspiration is so hard to come by these days. I keep picking up the pen/pencil wanting to create 'le magique' or whatever and it just won't come to me. It's been happening a lot lately, my Kelly dear. It's utterly dreadful. I don't know what to do. I suppose I could browse the internet and find wonderful musings here and there, but I just prefer for it to come naturally ( like a mini epiphany, you know ) and not derive it from other mundane external sources.

All I've been doing is finishing up a bunch of old half-drewn artworks found in my closet, some from last year, some from 5 years ago. Its a beautiful moment, really. Flipping through one's old drawings makes one feel so bloody nostalgic. It's kind of nauseating. But lovely still.

So... I suppose, Kelly that you'd want to know what I've been busy with, right? Well, the last couple of weeks I have been at the office almost everyday. And you know when I'm at the office I just cannot draw or doodle or sketch whenever I want to. Because, it is just impossible there. However the fast internet connection is indeed a perk when it comes to stalking other people on facebook! ( But only when I'm finished with my work, darling! )

Oh, and you know what?

I am officially registered for college! It is positively exciting! I've been waiting for it for quite some time you know. I am quite clueless as to how I've spent almost 5 months doing nothing! Honestly... even my drivers license is still in the works. Nevertheless, college life awaits me, and I'm awaiting college life. Now I shall have to put up with another month before actually living it.

Right. So darling, I think I'll update you some other time, yes? This post is already far too long and we don't want to bore people with boring posts, no? So yes, I think I shall go now. Attached is a picture of moi to cheer you up :

Sketchdump: Working on Postures

I haven't really done any artworks lately, so I thought I'd post some of my recent sketches.

I think that in my subjects, I really tend to stress the postures to the left side, making them slouch - which is why when I flip it horizontally, it looks disproportionate. Really need to work on that.

Haha I was trying to recreate my own version of Prince Dastan. I failed! :(

Playing With Toys

I'm feeling abit nostalgic right now. I don't know if it's the cold that I'm having, my sore throat (Kareoke-thanks, Isaac Arvind and Mars. Heh), or listening to jiwang Rachael Yamagata songs, or the number of movies I watched today.

But erm yea, Toy Story 3 made me miss my childhood days :(

From my primary school years - albeit not being a very outspoken person at the time, I still miss playing in the playground in the evenings and bitching about other kids/teachers and staying up late to finish my homework because I wanted to watch tv earlier (or even doing the homework during morning assembly) - and all the way to my Secondary School days where it had been one of the best moments in my life. So many memories that I'm sure I will forget one day, though I really don't want to. It's just so sad, as I was watching Andy all 17 and going to college. It's really all of us, in that transition of letting go of our past and venturing out to make new ones. It's tough to let go of something you're so comfortable with, especially that something that you've been holding dear for so many years. But its inevitable, and we all face it, don't we? The toys' story are symbolic to some of the hurdles and accomplishments we all went through in those adolescent times.

Bittersweet. Bittersweet indeed. But you know what? It's always a happy ending! (AWW!)

It's really cool to have watched this. I'd want to watch it again, and try to make myself the little gedik girly who's watching Toy Story for the first time. I want to have Bo Peep as my favourite toy and and hate Sid for being a terrible meany to all those precious toys. And Hannah :| Oh! and have Woody and Buzz as my favourite heroes. They so the hebat.
This is just an expression of how I relate to the movie. It is in no way commenting or promoting the movie. All I'm saying is, give it a go, and imagine yourself being in Andy's shoes.
